The painting is back to the library of Kuivaniemi. It stay here till at least the 28th of February.

Local people of Kuivaniemi helped to get the painting more Finnish.

The exhibition in O. Jauhiaisen Museo is almost started. Tomorrow I make the exhibition. The opening is on the 19th at 18:00 h.

After a busy week at school, now time for my work again. Really nice to paint again.

Exhibition is coming up. A lot of work still have to be made.

Library Project

Last week I brought a painting sketch to the library in Kuivaniemi. With the painting, there is a wooden panel where the local public can write comments on the panel. The question is how they think the painting has to be changed to get a Finnish landscape painting.

Yesterday evening I had an interview in Kuivaniemi library. This interview was part of this project. During the interview I talk about the landscape in Finland, but also about the difference with the landscape in the Netherlands. What is the influence of Ii in my work. And other questions about my work and the landscape. The interview was really nice. Great audience. It was a good experience for me.

My painting is still in the library. The locals already wrote several comments how I can change the painting to get it more Finnish. Tomorrow the painting is coming back to my atelier. I have 10 days to finish the painting. This will not be easy.

On the 24th the painting is going back to the library. It will stay there till the 28th.

Today a (or maybe better 2) new project was launched. At school I put 3 wooden panels with 6 question about Finnish Landscape.

In the Libarary in Kuivaniemi I put a painting sketch. Here I ask the local public to give me ideas what I have to change to make the painting as a really. From 20-28 February I will finish the work using the comments I get.

Now it is time for a short up date. I'm now almost 1 month in Ii. Time is going fast. Next month it is even going faster.

The first weeks I have walked often along II river. I was searching for inspiration. Inspiration needed for the exhibtion that is still coming up. A lot of the photo's you can see on this blog.

I'm busy with some drawings and paintings for my exhibition. My inspiration is Ii river. Not in the realistic way, but in the shapes I find on and next to the river. Which shapes belong to this river. And then I have to deal with the question, how to paint. The surrounding is so different that I also have to change my paintings.

Today I have visit the exhibition space. The ideas are more clear now. This also means that I have to work hard next two weeks to get everything ready.

Next week I start with lessons at school. Hopefully the discussions will be good. We also start a project with the community. Via question I want to know what are important elements in Finnish landscape. After the opening of the exhibition I will work out these ideas to a final painting 'Finnish Landscape'.

Stay in Ii
